Guillermo Solana, curator of the PISSARRO exhibition and director of the Museo Thyssen Bornemisza, invited me to give my lecture on PISSARRO’S PLACES at the Thyssen last Tuesday. About 40 people heard the lecture in English or by simultaneous translation in Spanish. Many people asked interesting questions and some stayed afterward to share what they had learned from the PISSARRO exhibition that was in Madrid this past summer. It was a great honor to be asked to speak at the Thyssen. Thank you, Mr. Solana and Paula Luengo for your kindness and hospitality.

Many thanks to the Barcelona Women’s Network and the Excellence Bookstore who sponsored my lecture on PISSARRO’S PLACES last Monday. About 25 people saw Pissarro’s paintings, the old maps and postcards, and current photos of the places he painted. Many people stayed afterwards to talk about Pissarro and the exhibition currently on view at the CaixaForum. A few asked me to sign their copies of PISSARRO’S PLACES.
One time is never enough for a PISSARRO exhibition. After seeing it in Madrid, I had to go to Barcelona to see it again. The exhibition is superb; the choices of paintings are thoughtful; and the diversity of Pissarro’s techniques is stunning! If you will be in Europe, go to Barcelona to see the PISSARRO exhibition at the CaixaForum.
PISSARRO’S PLACES is on sale at the CaixaForum and at the Excellence Bookstore in Barcelona.
